I won GMA's National Chocolate Cake Day contest!

Good morning everyone! I am still on cloud 9 after winning Good Morning America's Chocolate Cake Contest. This has been surreal, what a fun day it was in NYC.
It all started when GMA asked viewers to send in a recipe of their best chocolate cake and I did. On Monday, I received a phone call from a GMA producer asking about my cake. And before I knew it, I was heading to NYC to compete live on the show in honor of National Chocolate Cake Day. When GMA asks for you to send a recipe in and maybe you'll head to NYC, they really mean it!

I left a snowy Michigan airport....

To arrive in New York, also covered in snow...

I made my way to the Millennium Broadway hotel and had a great view of the GMA studio from my room...

Then, I was off in search of a great steak!

And I found a great ribeye and wedge salad at Bobby Van's Steakhouse, YUM!

I arrived on set the next morning to a very fun GMA set, everyone was so nice!

My hair and makeup girls were the same ones that do Michael Strahan and our very own Michigan girl, Ginger Zee. (Although Ginger is out on maternity leave) The hair and makeup girls were so fun, they are a hoot! I wish I would have taken a selfie with them...maybe next time?

Here's a photo looking outside from the Green Room...

And Rebecca Jarvis let me do the GMA Wake Up call with her before the show started, that was awesome!

I'm not sure why Michael Strahan and I both have our mouths wide open, but whatever. I saw this photo on social media and thought it was funny. But seriously (note to self) close your mouth, Gina! Haha!

And we were delighted to have #1 New York Times Bestselling Author, Rocco Dispirito, join us and promote his new book - The Negative Calorie Diet.

Here is a link to his website and book!

The fun and fabulous taste testers were there from the New York/New Jersey Bakers Club, they were awesome and so much fun!

Here's a clip from on set...

My cake....

Rocco's cakes....

The one and only, Jesse Palmer, was the official Cake Host. (I had a million single ladies message me after the show wondering if Rocco or Jesse were single and ready to mingle and wanted their phone numbers. Sorry ladies, but I didn't ask for them since I am married)

Then, my big moment....I WON! Yay :)

Thanks for the signed book, Rocco. I read it on the plane and there are a lot of great recipes in the book along with some great healthy living information.

Thanks Rocco and Jesse! You guys ROCK!

Going through airport security and wait for it....

The cake top broke off...

Thanks again to GMA and all my friends and family for the all the congratulations! You guys are awesome, I felt all the love from each and every one of you.

Oh and if I get asked back to GMA for another food segment, I have to get a picture with Lara Spencer for my husband. Ted's favorite GMA host is Lara. Next time, Lara, next time!
